The FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard, and Freeski World Championships will be held in Bakuriani, Georgia in 2023, it was formally confirmed at the 51st Ski Congress of the International Ski Federation (FIS) in 2018. Former FIS president Gian Franco Casper made the choice.
It is significant since at the time Michel Vion, president of the French Ski Federation, suggested Courchevel, a French ski resort, as the venue for the Alpine World Championships. The Freestyle Ski, Snowboard, and Freeski World Championships will be held in Bakuriani.
After five years, Michel Vion made a trip to Georgia in his capacity as FIS Secretary General to discuss the World Championships' preparations and its significance for Georgia.
FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2023
The 2023 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships will take place from February 19 to March 5, 2023, in Bakuriani, Georgia. The World Championships in snow sports will be held in Georgia for the first time ever.
There are 30 medal events planned, including 14 in snowboarding and 16 in the freestyle and freeski sports.
In the freestyle skiing discipline known as aerials, participants do acrobatics while in the air. They often leap off a cliff and soar 14 to 15 meters in the air. The first-ever Aerials competition will take place on Georgia's Mount Kokhta.
The public is welcome and there is no admission charge for the World Championship in Aerials.
Finals for the aerials team competition are on February 19, and the aerials final is on February 22.

The 2023 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle, and Freeski World Championships will be held in Georgia the following winter, and the full schedule of competitions scheduled to take place in Bakuriani from February 19 through March 5, 2023, has just been made public.
Bakuriani 2023 will feature 30 medal competitions, including two mixed-team events in both the ski and snowboard disciplines, as well as 16 freestyle and freeski competitions and 14 snowboard competitions.
The aerials team event kicks off Bakuriani 2023's freestyle/freeski program on February 19. The women's and men's aerials solo events will follow on February 22.
The next event is ski cross, with the men's and women's individual finals taking place on February 24 and the team competition taking place on February 25.
The women's and men's single moguls contests will also take place on the 25th, and the dual moguls competitions will follow the following day.
Freeski competitions will then wrap up Bakuriani 2023's activities, starting on February 28 with the slopestyle finals for men and women, followed by the halfpipe finals and big air finals on March 4 and 5, respectively.

The women's and men's single moguls contests will also take place on the 25th, and the dual moguls competitions will follow the following day.
Freeski competitions will then wrap up Bakuriani 2023's activities, starting on February 28 with the slopestyle finals for men and women, followed by the halfpipe finals and big air finals on March 4 and 5, respectively.
On the snowboarding side, the 2023 World Championships will begin underway with competitions for men's and women's parallel giant slalom on February 19, parallel slalom on February 21, and parallel slalom mixed teams on February 22.
Then, on February 27, the women's and men's slopestyle finals will take place. After a brief hiatus in snowboard competition, the halfpipe and snowboard cross finals for both the women's and men's categories will take place in Bakuriani on March 3.
Before the last competition of a great 15 days in Georgia, the men and women of snowboard big air take to the massive one-hitter in the afternoon on March 5, we're back on the cross course for the SBX team event on March 4.

“I have been to many ski resorts and Bakuriani unfortunately is undeveloped. Having a great mountain landscape and climate it lacks developed infrastructure in general. We were few friends and tried to find a decent restaurant. After a few unsuccessful attempts, we finally had dinner at the Restaurant "Didveli". The Georgian cousin was the best in the area and had a great pleasant environment. We decided to have dinner every evening in this restaurant only and were fully satisfied.”
