Samtskhe-Javakheti is an ancient territory of Georgia according to historical sources ancient Georgian tribes lived there.  This southern part of Georgia has very specific climate you can see both - semi-desert and alpine forests. Famous breathtaking cave town Vardzia and Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park are also based on this territory. Park can be paradise to extreme lovers since it is best place for hiking with its various routes.

Vardzia cave town is multi-storied complex cut into the rocks with narrow streets and tunnels which lead visitors to the temples, monasteries, libraries and baths.

If you go to the west you will run into a town Akhaltsikhe, since that place is quite close to the boarder with turkey it played defensive part in our history.Overall the landscape is really picturesque, due to its geographical position that region  is multinational inhabited by Greeks, Armenians, Russians and more.
